BENGALURU: The
BJP, utilising the opportunity at hand to highlight the “deteriorating” law and order situation in the state ahead of the 2018 elections, on Thursday took the “dasterdly” attack on
Lokayukta Vishwanath Shetty to the doorsteps of prime minister Narendra
Modi.
On a day of hectic activities within the saffron outfit, party sources in Delhi said BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa had a one-on-one meeting with prime minister Narendra Modi, wherein the attack on
Lokayukta and other matters related to the party performance ahead of the 2018 assembly elections were supposedly discussed.
At the other end, sources in the party claim, led by
Bangalore South MP and union minister for parliamentary affairs H N Ananth Kumar and a few other members of Parliament (MPs) from Karnataka met union home minister Rajnath Singh to discuss the “lawlessness” in the state also.
Early on Thursday morning, Karnataka election in-charge BJP union ministers Prakash Javdekar and
Piyush Goyal called upon the Lokayukta who is recovering from the stabbing incident at the Mallya hospital.
After the meeting, Goyal said: “We are Extremely shocked when we heard about the dastardly attack on the Lokayukta of Karnataka. With our Parliamentary affairs minister H N Ananth Kumar being in Delhi, he and a few others have met the PM and expressed their concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.”
In a separate presser at the BJP state officer, BJP state general secretary Arvind Limbavali announced that on March 10, the saffron outfit was organising a statewide protest on the Lokayukta stabbing incident and the ripple effect of it on the state’s law and order situation.
“The protests will be held at all the district headquarters in the state on the deteriorating law and order situation, and with the prime focus on the Lokayukta stabbing incident,” he said.
