NEW DELHI: Prime Minister
Narendra Modi today spoke with TDP chief and
Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu
Naidu a day after the latter announced the resignation of his party's two ministers from the Union government over Centre's refusal to grant special status to Andhra Pradesh, reported ANI.
The two TDP ministers -
Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Y S Chowdhary - who were yesterday asked to tender their resignation are also likely to meet PM
Modi in evening today.
Earlier today, the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) responded by pulling two of its ministers - Dr Kamineni Srinivas and Pydikondala Manikyala Rao - from the state cabinet, which is led by the TDP.
"Our ministers in central cabinet and BJP ministers in our cabinet have resigned. However, these ministers worked good in the state. They brought considerable reforms in their departments. I thank them for their services,"
Chandrababu Naidu said in the state Assembly today following news of the BJP ministers' resignations.
Yesterday, CM Naidu held a meeting with his party lawmakers where a decision was taken that TDP will no longer be a part of the BJP-led Union government and its two ministers will tender their resignation.
