Noted ophthalmologist of the State Dr Bharti Kashyap will receive the ‘Nari Shakti Award’ for making outstanding contributions to women’s endevaour/community work/making a difference/women empowerment by President of India at Rashtrapati Bhawan on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 08.
The awards are given every year by Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India on International Women Day. These awards in each category carry a Certificate and a cash amount and are given to eminent or outstanding Institutions or organizations and individuals.
Dr Bharti Kashyap, Founder Director of Kashyap memorial Eye Hospital, has been relentlessly working for the poor and the vulnerable sections of society for over two decades. She has treated hundreds of children, from all over Jharkhand, who had been forced to drop out of school due to various eye ailments - refractive errors, cataract in one or both eyes, who have been provided with free eye care facilities, including free surgery, are now back in schools.
Being the president of Women Doctors wing, IMA Jharkhand she has also been holding free Cervical Cancer and Anemia Screening Camps at the far off areas of the State including the tribal heartlands.
