An all-party delegation from Goa had on Monday met Union ministers Nitin Gadkari and Piyush Goyal in Delhi and urged them to help the iron ore mining industry.
JSW Steel chairman Sajjan Jindal has lauded the Supreme Court verdict cancelling the iron ore mining leases in Goa and said instead of putting pressure on the Centre the apex court judgement should be respected.

The Supreme Court had last month quashed the second renewal of iron ore mining leases given to 88 companies in Goa in 2015.

"Instead of putting pressure on Delhi, it will be much better to respect Hon. #SupremeCourt judgement. @goacm must act on time based auction of the mines," Jindal has said in a tweet.

An all-party delegation from Goa had on Monday met Union ministers Nitin Gadkari and Piyush Goyal in Delhi and urged them to help the iron ore mining industry, which is staring at a crisis in the wake of a Supreme Court ruling.

"@goacm must act on time based auction of the mines," Jindal has tweeted.

Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had last month said that there was no other option than auctioning mining leases to resume iron ore extraction in the state, which is set to stop from March due to a Supreme Court order.

"Mine auctions through a transparent process will give additional revenue to the #Goa exchequer. Delaying the act won't help anyone @goacm @MinesMinIndia @nstomar," Jindal has tweeted.
