Former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, here on Thursday, assured the public that he would waive farm loans of ₹50,000 crore if his party was elected to power.

While addressing Vikasa Parva rally here, he said he was making this promise understanding fully the task of waiving such a huge amount. “I know taking the decision to waive ₹50,000 crore is not a small task. But my father has taught me how to bear the burden on the State’s exchequer. The present Congress government has increased the total borrowings at ₹1.35 lakh crore. However, I will not borrow a loan to waive farm loans,” he said.
