JAIPUR: A 45-year-old man riding a bicycle was run over by a low floor bus on the Sikar road near
Khaitan Hospital in the city on Tuesday morning. The driver of the low floor bus was managed to flee from the scene and did not stop to attend the seriously injured man who was killed in the hospital.
According to the police, the deceased identified as Om
Prakash Agarwal a native of Jabalpur in
Madhya Pradesh was working in a shop situated at
Naya Khera locality and was living in
Krishna Colony.
“He was going to the shop where he used to work on his bicycle in the morning when he was hit by a rashly driven low-floor bus. Locals came for help of the seriously injured person, however the bus driver managed to flee,” said a senior police officer.
A large number of people gathered at the spot and rushed him to the nearby hospital where he succumbed to the injuries.
Police said that a case under appropriate sections of IPC was lodged against the driver of the truck. “He would be traced and brought to the books. The body of the deceased has been kept in the mortuary of the Kanwatia hospital and his relatives have been intimated,” said an officer.
