Vehicle abandoned by a group near Walajah

Nineteen small red sanders logs were found in a car that was abandoned by a group of men along the National Highway 48 near Walajah on Tuesday.

According to the police attached to the Walajah station, a traffic inspector was going on rounds when he spotted a speeding car on the NH.

On seeing the police vehicle, the car speeded but ended up in a roadside ditch. A group of nearly four men abandoned the vehicle and fled the spot. The police personnel attached to Walajah were informed and they conducted a search in and around the area but could not locate anybody.

They found red sander logs in the vehicle. Forest personnel attached to the Arcot Range were informed.

The police said the red sanders logs were handed over to the Forest Department. A case has been registered.
