The former Chief Minister and JD(S) State President H.D. Kumaraswamy on Tuesday launched a tirade against the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party saying they have been indulging in divisive politics, sidelining development of the State.
Speaking to reporters, ahead of his dialogue with intellectuals of Dakshina Kannada here, Mr. Kumaraswamy said the attitude of both the national parties creates a doubt in the mind of the common man as to whether they are really interested in the development agenda.
They have created a fear psychosis in coastal Karnataka, he alleged.
BJP lacks leaders
Mr. Kumaraswamy wondered how Mr. Adityanath in whose very constituency hundreds of infants died because of negligence in a hospital, could address Jan Suraksha Yatra. The person who could not protect infants in his State has no right to talk about safety of people in other States, he said.
Despite being endowed with rich natural resources, Coastal Karnataka does not receive much from the administration to improve its infrastructure. Though it has an all-weather port and other communication network, the national parties have constantly ignored the region and only developed politics of hatred, Mr. Kumaraswamy said. It is high time that the people rejected both of them and brought JD (S) to power, he said. The party is aiming at minimum three constituencies where it can win, Mr. Kumaraswamy said without naming them.
