Despite CBI probe order, some SSC aspirants continue protest

| | New Delhi

A day after Union Government ordered a CBI enquiry into the alleged Staff Selection Commission (SSC) exam scam, not more than hundred protesters were seen in solidarity with the ongoing protest outside the SSC's office in Delhi.

This motley group of protesters, which claims itself to be independent of any student or political organisations, is not contended with the CBI enquiry into the SSC exam paper leak held last month but are indeed demanding CBI enquiry into the all exams conducted by SSC last year.

They are also demanding that all ongoing or upcoming exams of SSC should immediately be cancelled in wake of CBI enquiry into the scam.

The job aspirants are protesting over an alleged paper leak which came to light during the exams on February 21. They demanded that the exams be re-conducted and a probe be conducted by the top investigation agency.

On Monday after ordering a CBI investigation into the case, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh urged candidates to call of their protests.

"We have accepted the demands of protesting candidates and have given orders for a CBI enquiry. The protests should stop now," said Rajnath.

Urvesh Kumar ,who hails from Etah in Uttar Pradesh and lives in GTB Nagar Delhi preparing for SSC exams, said that all exams conducted by SSC in 2017 should be cancelled and CBI enquiry should be initiated.

On the other hand, the SSC released an official notice announcing the re-examination dates for CGL (Tier-II) examination 2017.

The commission will conduct the re-examination for Paper-I (quantitative ability) of the candidates who had appeared in the CGL (Tier-II) examination 2017 across the country and Paper-I (quantitative ability) and Paper-II (English) of the candidates who had appeared at Cyber City, Patna, on February 21, 2018. Further, SSC CGL Tier II Re-Exam 2017 will be held on March 9.
