Market Now: Britannia, Godrej Consumer Products, ITC boost Nifty FMCG index
HCL Technologies, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Zee Entertainment, Bajaj Auto and ITC were among the top gainers in the Nifty50 index.
NEW DELHI: FMCG stocks Britannia Industries (up 1.48 per cent), Godrej Consumer Products (up 1.22 per cent), Colgate-Palmolive (India) (up 1 per cent) and ITC (up 1 per cent) were trading up during afternoon trade on Wednesday, keeping the Nifty FMCG index in the green.

The Nifty FMCG index was trading 0.65 per cent up at 26,061 around 01:40 pm (IST).

Shares of GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (up 0.84 per cent), Dabur India (up 0.70 per cent), United Spirits (up 0.49 per cent) and Hindustan Unilever (up 0.20 per cent) were also trading with gains.

However, shares of Tata Global Beverages (down 1.70 per cent), United Breweries (down 1.37 per cent), Emami (down 1.17 per cent), Jubilant Foodworks (down 0.43 per cent) and Procter & Gamble Hygiene & Healthcare (down 0.42 per cent) were in the red in the index.

Sustained selling in bank, financial, pharma and metal stocks were keeping the benchmark indices in the negative terrain.

The NSE Nifty50 index was down 61 points at 10,188, while the BSE Sensex was 164 points down at 33,153.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 17 were trading in the green, while 33 were in the red.

HCL Technologies, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Zee Entertainment, Bajaj Auto and ITC were among the top gainers in the Nifty50 index, while Bharti Airtel, State Bank of India, ONGC, Indiabulls Housing Finance and Adani Ports SEZ were among the top losers.
