Making fresh allegations against the functioning of the BJP-ruled municipalities in Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday said that the health and education sectors in the civic bodies are suffering.
Speaking to the media at the party headquarters at Rouse Avenue, Dilip Pandey said that as soon as the AAP was sworn into power in Delhi, they immediately addressed the issues of health, education, power and water.
“…On the other hand the condition of health and education facilities in the civic bodies is still in shackles,” he said. The AAP leader said that the BJP has been ruling the municipal corporations for over a decade but there has been no improvement in the condition of public facilities under the civic agencies.
‘They’re doing nothing’
“Even the High Court had recently told the municipalities that if they are not able to run their schools properly then they should just hand them over to the Delhi government. However, it is shocking that despite that they are still not doing anything to improve their work or even do something as basic as pay salaries to the teachers and other non-teaching staff,” he said.
Mr. Pandey also alleged that the North Delhi Municipal Corporation had admitted to their inability to run hospitals that fall under their jurisdiction. The AAP said that by changing all their candidates in the municipal elections, the BJP had claimed that they will uproot corruption by doing away with incumbent leaders. “However, it seems that the newly elected leaders did not take much time to get smeared in corruption.” he said.
