As many as 37,399 students will appear for the SSLC examinations from the district. The examinations will be conducted in 260 centres across three educational districts.
Attingal educational district has the highest number of candidates (13,783). The others included Thiruvananthapuram (11,887) and Neyyatttinkara (11,729) educational districts.
Among the schools, the highest number of students (1,810) will appear for the examinations from St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School in Pattom under the Thiruvananthapuram educational district. With only two candidates, Girls High School, Kattachakonam, will have the least number.
The Deputy Director of Education reviewed the arrangements that have been made for the smooth conduct of the examinations. The question papers have been secured in treasury lockers. They will be taken out from the lockers and transported to the respective schools at 9 a.m.
The question papers, which will be received at the schools by the Chief Examiners and Deputy Chief Examiners, will be kept at the school lockers until 1.30 p.m. The officials will then personally deliver the question paper to the invigilators at each classroom.
Water bottles that do not have labels on them will be permitted inside the halls. Writing pads will also be permitted after inspection by invigilators. Collector K. Vasuki expressed optimism that the candidates would be able to appear for the examinations without stress.
