Ed Cowan announces retirement from first class cricket

Veteran NSW opener Ed Cowan has drawn the curtain on a stellar first class cricket career following the Blues’ narrow loss to Victoria this week.

Last season’s Steve Waugh medalist will not play in NSW’s final Shield match against Queensland next week.

Cowan played 18 Tests for Australia scoring 1001 runs at 31.28, and finished with 10097 first-class runs with an average of 41.89.
