CHANDIGARH:
Sector 36 police have booked five persons for allegedly rioting and assaulting a shopkeeper in Kajehri on February 26. The complainant alleged that the accused threatened him with a pistol too.
No arrests have been made in this case so far. Polcie said the accused were on the run and police teams had been raiding their possible hideouts.
In his complaint, Karan Walia, resident of Kajehri, alleged that Shiv charan, Mukesh, Deepa, Dalip and Bachhu attacked him with sticks and iron rods at his shop in full public view. Accused had also vandalized his shop. Walia owns a hardware shop in the area. At that time, other shopkeepers intervened and saved him.
He informed at 100 number about the incident and cops from Sector 36 police station reached the spot. Police took him to GMSH-16 for treatment. Complainant said the accused had a pistol with them and threatened him to kill by pointing it at him. All the accused were caught in the CCTV camera while attacking the shopkeeper.
Naseeb Singh, the SHO of Sector 36 police station, said both parties had old rivalry. He said the accused were earlier booked at Sector 26 police station in 2014. Then too, Walia was the complainant.
