Hidalgo Co. Judge Primary Election Results

with be warming up again in hidalgo county... richard cortez led early in the democratic primary - - for county judge's job. he's up against former county judge eloy pulido. the republicans also had a candidate jane cross -- who is running unopposed. carolina cruz - - is standing by live - - with where things stand - - right now. we are at the watch party for richard cortez. according to the hidalgo county elections department 66 out of 74 polling sites have reported their total ballots. so we still cant say these are the final unofficial results yet. cortez is in the lead with 56% of the votes. while his opponent eloy pulido shows at 44%. if cortez stays in the lead he will face jane cross in the general election. the judge is the person who oversees the hidalgo county commissioners court. that group is the governing body that makes policy decisions for county operations. we spoke to fromt runner, cortez. he says he looks forward to continuing his campaign in the months to follow if he wins this primary. i look forward to being the democratic nominee for the general election and to go put and meet the republican candidate who happens to be a friend of mine, jane cross, but you know thats the way it works. we put ourselves out there for the people to decide who they want their leadership to be. i look forward to that opportunity. again these votes are unofficial results. we will have several polling sites that need to report their totals. reporting live in mcallen, carolina cruz, channel five news at
