Not in the mood to go through the sports news in detail, but can’t quite get yourself to do away with it either? Here’s what we have to offer: read on to get a summary of all the main sports events.

Basketball

Houston make it 16 wins in a row

Chris Paul top-scored for the Houston Rockets with 25 points, James Harden took the back-seat but still finished with a double double of 23 points and 11 assists, and the Rockets recorded their 16th straight victory – a 122-112 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Cricket

Limping Taylor levels the series for Kiwis with unbeaten 181

Chasing a mammoth 336 to win the fourth ODI against England and level the series for New Zealand, Ross Taylor led from the front, despite having his movements restricted after reaching triple figures, having injured himself while diving to complete a second run.

Taylor’s 147-ball 181 not out included 17 boundaries and six sixes, allowing the Kiwis to level the series 2-2 with three balls to spare.

Football

Real Madrid, Liverpool make it to Champions League quarter-finals

Real Madrid defeated Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 for a 5-2 aggregate win and Liverpool played out a goalless draw against Porto for their 5-0 aggregate victory as Real and Liverpool progressed to the last eight of the Champions Legue.

There was no fairytale come back for PSG, who, in the absence of Neymar, never looked like they were going to test the double defending champions.

Liverpool, meanwhile, had an eye on the weekend’s Premier League fixture against Manchester United and chose to rest Mohammed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, with the job already done in Porto.
