Karungal police have arrested two youth in connection with the murder of a construction contractor.
The police said Amar Raj (25) of Kappiyarai Chellankonam under Karungal police station limits teased a 21-year-old woman, his neighbour, on a few occasions when she was going to college. As she informed her father Francis (46), a contractor, of the incident, he censured Amar Raj.
Against this backdrop, Amar Raj and his friends Arul, Stephen and Sufi attacked Francis with sickles and clubs when he was returning home along with his daughters on Tuesday night. As the girls screamed in fear, the neighbours rushed to the spot and sent the badly injured Francis to a private hospital close by.
He was later referred to Kanniyakumari Government Medical College Hospital, where he died.
Karungal police arrested Amar Raj and Stephen, and are searching for Sufi and Arul.
