Witness warrant issued to former DSPs

The Fast Track Mahila Court, Vellore, has issued witness warrant to three former deputy superintendents of police (DSP) of Ambur sub-division for failing to appear for consecutive hearings in a case.

P. Mathusuthanan, sessions judge, Fast Track Mahila Court, Vellore, issued the warrant to the three police officers on Tuesday after they failed to appear for two to three hearings in a case relating to the suicide of a woman in 2014, according to S. Lakshmi Priya, Special Public Prosecutor. The woman, Thamizharasi, allegedly committed suicide by hanging after she was beaten up by her husband, Ramesh. Omarabad police had registered a case against Ramesh and his mother.

When the case came up for hearing in the Fast Track Mahila Court, Vellore, the three former DSPs, who had handled the case during their respective tenures in the sub-division, failed to appear. Following his, witness warrants were issued to the former DSPs – Vijayakumar, Ganesan and Philip Franklin Kennedy, she said.
