NEW DELHI: The
widows of Vrindavan ashram will soon be starting an entrepreneur venture by the name of '
Brajagandha' where they will making special essence from flowers offered at various temples in the country.
Uttar Pradesh's Governor
Ram Naik will start the process of patenting the product at Lokbhavan in Lucknow on the occasion of International Women's Day on March 8.
A fund of Rs 1.67 crore has also been earmarked to ensure the successful completion of the project, planning for which began few months ago. The fund will be utilised for purchasing machines and equipment for the process of bottling.
The money will also be used to train the 500 women occupants of the five ashrams. The Fragrance and Flavour Development Centre (FFDC), an autonomous body of government of India, has been employed to provide the necessary training.
A contract is also being chalked out which will ensure the delivery of flowers to the ashram from temples located in various districts of the country.
As per the plan, flowers from Varanasi, Mirzapur, Banke Bihari, Isckon temple and several other temples will be used to make the essence.
The government plan to disburse 20 percent of the revenue generated from the sale of the essence to the temple and the remaining 80 percent money will be used for welfare of women.
Earlier, the occupants of the ashram prepared 100 kg gulal from flowers, which was gifted to PM
Narendra Modi and all ministers of Uttar Pradesh on the occasion of Holi.
