Tension prevailed in the town of Bhiwadi in Rajasthan's Alwar district following the death of two teenage Dalit boys in the span of four days.
Sixteen-year-old Neeraj Jatav was allegedly beaten to death in a brawl during Holi celebrations, and the charred body of Ajay Jatav, 17, was found in the town's Phool Bagh area on Monday.
Neeraj was attacked by a group of persons when a dispute arose over applying of colours during the celebrations. Most of the people were reportedly in a drunken state at the time of the incident.
After the doctors at the community health centre declared Neeraj brought dead, his relatives and family members protested and tried to vandalise the hospital.
Ajay's family members claimed that the boy was burnt by identified persons following a quarrel over the previous incident of violence. The teenager's body was cremated amid heavy police presence, while the local residents blocked roads in protest.
The killing of the two Dalit boys has created panic in the town, as they were believed to be close friends. Police said the investigation was underway to ascertain if the two incidents of alleged murder were linked with each other.
