Lokayukta P. Vishwanatha Shetty, who was stabbed multiple times is stable. A team of doctors, led by consultant cardiothoracic surgeon Diwakar Bhat, at Mallya Hospital performed a four-hour surgery to check bleeding and set right the damages. He is being monitored in the ICU.
Dr. Bhat told The Hindu that the Lokayukta suffered three injuries on his chest, two on the abdomen, one each on the hand and thigh, and two on the face. “There was significant loss of blood. The injuries on the chest and abdomen are major and it was a challenging task for us to stabilise him. He is also a diabetic and is on blood thinners as he underwent a bypass surgery 13 years ago,” said Dr. Bhat, adding that he is conscious and speaking.
