more-in

Minister for Water Resources Mathew T. Thomas has said that the State government has begun to strictly enforce an ordinance aimed at preventing waterbodies from being polluted.

He was inaugurating the Water Summit 2018 on ‘Smarter Solutions for a Better Tomorrow’, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry here on Tuesday.

Mr. Thomas said the Cabinet has passed an ordinance that ensured punishment of imprisonment up to three years for those who were found guilty of polluting waterbodies. The police have also begun to register cases under the law.
