Syria: Nearly 39 people died after a Soviet-designed An-26 plane crashed on Tuesday in Syria in Latakia province.

As per the reports, a Russian military transport plane crashed at Russia’s Hmeymim airbase in Latakia province. The incident occurred after a plane witnessed technical problems. The deceased were people of Russian armed forces.

The military authorities confirmed that the plane got crashed 500 metres short of the runway at Hmeymim province on Tuesday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin was being informed about the incident through telephone. He even articulated the pity to the deceased and their family members on twitter.

Till now nearly 44 Russian service workers has lost their lives in Syria ever since the action began in September 2015.

In February, Kremlin-linked Russian private military company 300 workers lost their lives or got injured in Syria in a attack by US- headed coalition forces.
