Craze for car remodeling catches on in City

His passion for remodeling old cars into the dashing sports action cars brings him into a unique league. The local car remodeling artist—Sanjay Minocha is no less than the internationally acclaimed car designer Dilip Chhabaria here. With his sheer dedication and visualization Minocha has created a niche in the automobile remodeling sector today. The unexplored automobile remodeling sector here that once craved for recognition, Minocha through his distinct skills has emerged as its brand icon.

Interestingly, Minocha is the only car remodeling artist in the entire Jharkhand, Bihar and Chhattisgarh region who is active since 2000. The local Dilip Chhabaria- as known by the Ranchiites has remodeled several dozens of vintage cars giving it entirely a dreamy look.

With no such formal degree in this specialized field, Minocha has the credit of remodeling Maruti Gypsy into a Dailhatsu’s 4-track model, Italy’s favourite brand FIAT into a fancy sports car, Hindustan Motor’s Contessa Model into a comfortable sports car, a multi brand Maruti into Land Rover to name a few.

Hailing from a modest family that was engaged in transport business, this commerce graduate had no idea then that in the coming years car remodeling art will fast catch up the attention of small town people too which was earlier termed as ‘rich people’s’ love.

Minocha whose life revolves around colours, designs and machinery tools, said, “By now immense inclination of public for car remodeling can be witnessed but there is lack of awareness about its charge, timing involved, cost of maintenance etc. Car remodeling task involves a great vision and timing. Custom based car designs are time bound while for pure design there is no time restriction, it can take over six months time.”

The journey of a common man that began way back in 1987 to remodel old classy cars into super jazzy sports utility vehicles with just Rs 700, today owns a well-furnished automobile remodeling and service centre in the heart of the city . “For a while I had shifted my focus from car remodeling to other venture. However, I could not stay away from it for long. After receiving encouraging response, I continued and never looked back,” said Minocha, proprietor of Sanjay Automobiles.

Minocha balances his creativity and customers’ taste aptly while remodeling the vintage cars. With the changing time, craze for remodeling of old cars into the striking sports vehicles is attracting public. Remodeling car culture is widening its base in State Capital and is not merely confined to a particular class now. In a bid to experiment with something new adding onto a few unique elements, concept of remodeling cars is slowly gaining much acceptance here.
