Pune: FC Pune City is ready to play one of the biggest games in the club history when they square off against Bengaluru FC at the Balewadi Sports Complex on Wednesday.

The Stallions managed to salvage two draws and a heavy defeat in their last three matches, but that hasn’t hampered the Pune squad, and the team is ecstatic about the semis.

Ranko Popovic’s pupils aren’t just playing an attractive brand of football but they are proving their mettle when they need it the most and one man, in particular, Adil Khan, has proved that he is the one for the future.

Ranko Popovic’s pupils aren’t just playing an attractive brand of football but they are proving their mettle when they need it the most and one man, in particular, Adil Khan, has proved that he is the one for the future.

He has played in the heart of the defence, at the right back and in the central midfield as well. It’s not just his ability to play the different positions that have grabbed attention, but he’s been ‘a headache’ for the opposition with is late runs inside the box and ability to score with a thumping header.

On the eve of the play-offs match, the 29-year-old defender said that he doesn’t prefer any particular position but likes to play where the team needs him the most.

“I don’t really prefer any particular position. I play according to the position coach asks me or where he needs me the most. I can adapt to any position really quickly, so it helps the gaffer as well,” he said.

Former Mohan Bagan player has scored some vital goals for his side this season, including the one against Bengaluru FC. There was an ear to ear wide smile on Adil’s face when asked about scoring against Bengaluru again.

“I would obviously like to score again tomorrow, I mean who doesn’t like to have their name on the scoresheet?” It’s about being in the right position at the right moment, so let’s see how it goes,” he further added.

Come Wednesday, Adil will once again hope to pop up in the right place at the right time to find the back of the net.
