Tiffany Haddish is set to star in Tyler Perry's comedy film The List alongside Tika Sumpter and Omari Hardwick, reported Variety.

The film will be written, directed and produced by Perry.

According to the report, Haddish will play a wild woman who gets released from prison and reunites with her sister, played by Sumpter. Sumpter's character is in an online relationship with a man that may be "catfishing" her.

Paramount Players has already set a 2 November release date for the film.

Haddish became a breakout star in 2017 after stealing the show in Girls Trip. The film, directed by Malcolm D Lee, also featured Regina Hall, Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett Smith. The 38-year-old actress and comedian has seen her star rise since last summer. She's gone on to host Saturday Night Live and star in a Super Bowl commercial. Haddish also helped announce the Academy Award nominees last month.

Haddish and Maya Rudolph teamed up to present the Oscar for best documentary short and best live action short at the 90th Academy Awards on Sunday.

Her continued authenticity despite her growing celebrity has helped her stand out in Hollywood with Oscar-nominated director Paul Thomas Anderson too expressing an interest to collaborate with her.

She's also starring with Tracy Morgan in a new TBS sitcom called The Last OG and will appear alongside Kevin Hart in the film Night School later this year.
