A function marking the conclusion of the distribution of The Hindu In School in the district in the academic year 2017-18 was held at Vocational Higher Secondary School, Irimbanam, on Monday.
The special edition of the newspaper was distributed in 25 government and aided schools in the district in the academic year with the support of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, Kochi.
Speaking on the occasion, V.A. Thampi, Headmaster, said the effort of The Hindu in reaching out to the young minds was commendable.
Vineeth M. Varghese, Senior Manager (Public Relations and Administration), BPCL Kochi, spoke about the newspaper’s qualitative and balanced reporting that gave its readers an unbiased perspective. The school edition matched the sprightly, creative young minds, he added.
Suresh George, Senior Deputy General Manager (Circulation), The Hindu, said the content of the school edition created interest in newspaper reading.
‘Reader-friendly’
M.R. Sanal Kumar, schoolteacher, who proposed a vote of thanks, said both teachers and students found The Hindu in School good as it handled language, science, history, puzzles, stories and news in a reader-friendly manner that gave children an extra mix of knowledge raising their level of awareness of subjects taught in school. M.I. Poly, school manager, was present at the function.
