More than 20 people were today killed and some injured in a road accident at Bhavnagar district in Gujarat.

Police said the incident took place in Randhola area when a truck, carrying a marriage party, overturned and fell into a drain on the Bhavnagar-Rajkot highway.

About 50 people were said to be travelling in the truck at the time of the accident. Relief and rescue operations are underway.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his condolences to the families of those killed.

Terming the accident extremely unfortunate, Mr Modi, in a tweet, wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
