Latest IT to be provided in remote areas of State, says CM Rawat

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat stressed that latest Information Technology (IT) should be provided in the remote areas of the state. He said that there was a need to prepare databse centres and establish Common Service Centres (CSC) at Gram Panchyat level. He instructed government officials to expedite work in Union Government-run IT related projects or schemes in the state.

While reviewing the progress of the state’s IT department, Rawat instructed officials to ensure reach of IT facilities and government-run beneficiary projects or schemes to maximum villages of the state. He said that villagers would be among the main beneficiaries, if IT facility is easily accessible to Gram Panchyats of the state and educated unemployed youths could avail benefits with IT facility. “Maximum reach of IT facilities could be a milestone in setting up smart villages across the state,” he said, adding that IT facility would prove extremely conducive for spread of education, health and entertainment.

Information Technology Development Agency (ITDA) director Amit Sinha  said that efforts were on to use of aerostate (balloon) facility in order to have best communication facility in the state. He said that Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mumbai.  He said first trial was successfully conducted at Ahmednagar, while second trial would be done in Uttarakhand.
