Members form human logo to mark International Women’s Day

When women in Kerala saris, with pink scarves on their heads, formed the three-flower logo of the Kudumbasre Mission on the Government Higher Secondary School ground at Mananthavady on Tuesday evening, it scripted a new saga in the 20-year history of the poverty eradication mission.

As many as 5,438 members from various units of the District Kudumbasree Mission, Wayanad, formed arguably the largest human logo to mark International Women’s Day.

The attempt was also a part of finding a spot in the Guinness World Records by forming the largest human logo by women. A one-hour video of the programme is to be submitted to the Guinness World Records, Kudumbasree sources said.

The logo stands for financial, social, and women empowerment. A huge crowd gathered there to watch the novel programme. Mananthavady municipal chairman V.R. Praveej opened the programme.

Apart from the programme, the mission would launch its first art theatre titled Rosy the real strength of women at Chandragiri Auditorium at 10 a.m. on March 8 as a part of the International Women’s Day celebrations, the sources said .

“The project aims to conserve the folk and traditional art forms of the State and convey the message of women empowerment,” the sources added. A debate on ‘gender justice’ and a talk show will also be held.
