NEW DELHI: Commuters on
national highways won’t need to ask about the user charges after approaching a toll gate or won’t get caught in a long queue at the toll plazas. They will get alerts about the user charge and waiting time, a full kilometre before reaching any toll plaza. What they need to do is only download the “Sukhad Yatra” app in their mobile phones, which will go live from Wednesday.
National Highways Authority of India (
NHAI), which has developed the mobile app, claimed this will be a single app to address concerns of all highway users. It will also enable commuters to lodge complaints on the state of the highways. The app will be launched by highways minister
Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday. He will also launch the multilingual toll free number 1033 to enable users to report any emergency condition.
