Mormugao U C S C and Cortalim Villagers played out a goalless lack-luster GFA’s second division play-off match played at artificial grounds,Fatorda on Tuesday.

The proceedings were rather slow in both the sessions of play which did not evoke much interest as the teams dished out a poor performance and failed to find the mark even when they got opportunities.

Cortalim Villagers striker Felister Tavares had three glorious chances to find the mark in the first half while attacking medio Francisco Tavares and striker Sunny Colaso who also had their chances but they just could not score.

The same was the case with Mormugao U C S C lads whose forward line simply messed up the chances that fell to them.

Both the teams failed to impress in the midfield as there were hardly any good passes dispatched upfront. While Cortalim Villagers midfield consisting of Francisco Tavares and company could have much better in delivering passes, the Mormugao team’s half line too failed to function as F.Gama,Menino Menezes Ritesh Pandey and Elroy Fernandes could not combine well with each other.

Though both the teams had some stray opportunities to find the mark on counter forays, their strikers failed to deliver as shots fired were way off the target.

It was only in the add on time of three minutes of play that the Mormugao U C S C team stepped up some pressure but the Cortalim keeper Vincy Gama showed a safe pair of hands.
