The body of a 23-year-old woman, allegedly killed and buried by her ‘lover’ near his agricultural well, was recovered by the police on Tuesday. The incident came to light after the police, following a complaint by the victim’s father, took the suspect into custody and interrogated him. Sources said the victim, a resident of Bhujilapuram, was working as a receptionist in a private hospital in the mandal. Kasagani Narender was her colleague there. According to preliminary findings of the police, the victim, Boddupalli Bhargavi, and Narender had known each other for over five years. They were said to be in love, but the latter was reluctant to marry her. In 2016, he had married his relative, but soon their relationship got strained, leading to their getting divorced. When Bhargavi and Narender met again, he promised to marry her and took her into the fields and murdered her there, the police said. Following interrogation, the suspect took the police to the crime scene, where the cops found a blood-smeared boulder. They later exhumed the victim’s body. The body was shifted to the local area hospital for post-mortem.
