Hollywood box office February 2018 report: Black Panther rules the roost

The month of February has been great for a few Hollywood movies. One of the movies we are obviously talking about is Chadwick Boseman and Michael B Jordan starrer Black Panther. The movie raked up a total of 899.9 million dollars at the BO. Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson's erotic drama Fifty Shades Freed also performed well at the box office, earning 345.8 million dollars. Other films that outshone their contemporaries in terms of earning money are the live-action movie Peter Rabbit, the thriller The 15:17 to Paris, Game Night and Helen Mirren's Winchester. That Black Panther has earned the numbers it's earned is really not that much of a surprise, what with all the hype surrounding the movie prior its release. The Ryan Coogler-directed movie with an all-Black cast won the hearts of both critics and the general audience. Black Panther made an impressive 899.9 million dollars at the BO last month. No mean feat, that. The movie was reportedly made on a budget of 200 million dollars, making it one of the most expensive superhero movies.

Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson's highly anticipated erotica Fifty Shades Freed has made 345.8 million dollars at the box office. The movie has been directed by James Foley and is based on the best-selling series of the same name by E L James.

The live-action dramedy Peter Rabbit, produced by Sony Pictures, has made 102 million dollars. The film has received a decent feedback from film critics. Peter Rabbit stars James Corden, Rose Byrne, Margot Robbie and Domhnall Gleeson in pivotal roles.

Clint Eastwood's drama The 15:17 to Paris did not live up to its expectations. The film has made 50.3 million dollars at the box office and stars Spencer Stone, Anthony Sadler, Alek Skarlatos and Mark Moogalian in the lead.

Game Night, which stars Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams in the lead, is a dark comedy directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. Produced by Warner Brothers, the movie has made 49.5 million dollars in February.

Dame Helen Mirren's supernatural horror flick Winchester failed to get the viewers' attention as it made 24.5 million dollars last month. Despite starring the much-admired Mirren, the film did not do a great business. Winchester has been produced by Lionsgate.
