Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil S. has issued a show cause notice to Mohammed Nazir, Commissioner of Mangaluru City Corporation, why disciplinary action cannot be recommended against him for failing to get unauthorised banners, buntings and cutouts removed in the city.
In the notice served on March 5 the Deputy Commissioner said that unauthorised banners, buntings and cutouts in the city have been posing problems to pedestrians and vehicle drivers. There are chances of they giving scope for accidents. The banners and buntings have been displayed in road medians and on the roadside. As a responsible official, the Commissioner remaining mute spectator without getting them removed gave scope for suspicion, it said.
Mr. Senthil asked him to explain on which grounds such banners, buntings and cutouts have been permitted in the city and what measures the corporation has taken to get them removed.
If the Commissioner failed to explain, the Deputy Commissioner said he would recommend disciplinary action against Mr. Nazeer.
