We are a large, multi-disciplinary department, which aims to tackle some of the world’s biggest health challenges by integrating innovative basic biology with cutting edge clinical research. We have internationally renowned programmes in a range of areas including cardiovascular sciences, diabetes and endocrinology, immunology, haematology and pathology. Formed in 2012, we are a multi-disciplinary department with research interests that span the translational spectrum – from basic biology through to clinical application. Our ultimate aim is patient benefit, through improved understanding, diagnosis and treatment of disease. Led by Prof Hugh Watkins, FRS, we are one of the largest departments in the University, with over 700 staff and an annual turnover of approximately £59m.
Novo Nordisk - Oxford Fellowship Programme
The Novo Nordisk – Oxford Fellowship Programme aims to support the development of a new generation of exceptional young diabetes researchers, who will become future leaders in the field. The programme also aims to further develop scientific excellence within diabetes and ultimately improve the lives of patients. We support both postdoctoral research fellows and clinical research training fellows. This ensures that the research in our programme spans the translational spectrum, from basic biological research through to clinical application.
Eligibility and selection criteria
The fellowship programme is international and therefore applicants from any country are eligible to apply. However, please note that while we will consider all applications, the funding provided for the clinical research training fellowships will only cover home/EU DPhil fees. Find out information on student fees at the University of Oxford.
We aim to recruit fellows with the potential to become leaders in the field of diabetes in subsequent years.
