Market Now: Nifty FMCG index in the red; United Spirits down 3%

NEW DELHI: FMCG stocks United Spirits (down 3.18 per cent), Colgate-Palmolive (India) (down 0.54 per cent), ITC (down 0.46 per cent), GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (down 0.33 per cent) and Emami (down 0.32 per cent) were trading in the red in afternoon trade on Tuesday, dragging the sectoral index a little down.
The Nifty FMCG was trading 0.07 per cent down at 26,147 around 01:30 pm (IST).
However, shares of Tata Global Beverages (up 1.51 per cent), Jubilant Foodworks (up 1.37 per cent), Godrej Consumer Products (up 1.15 per cent) and Godrej Industries (up 1.12 per cent) were trading with gains in the index.
Shares of Marico (up 0.99 per cent), Dabur India (up 0.58 per cent), United Breweries (up 0.39 per cent), Hindustan Unilever (up 0.34 per cent) and Britannia Industries (up 0.05 per cent) were also up around that time.
Equity benchmarks were trading up, backed by gains in metal, bank, oil & gas and financial stocks amid positive global cues.
The NSE Nifty50 index was 40 points up at 10,399, while the BSE Sensex was up 89 points at 33,835.
Among the 50 stocks in Nifty index, 28 were trading in the green, while 22 were in red.
