Revels 18, the annual cultural fest of
Manipal Institute of Technology, MAHE got under way, here on Tuesday with the opening ceremony.
With over 2500 students from engineering colleges across the country taking part, this edition of the fest is bigger than all previous ones. Competitions in cultural and sports events get underway tomorrow.
Revels, one of the biggest college festivals in the state has teams like
Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), RVCE, Christ University, MS Ramaiah, NIT Surathkal, BITS Goa and others taking part. Competitions in cultural events like dance, music, literature, quizzing, dramatics will be held along with sporting events cricket, football, basketball, hockey and others will be held.
For 2018, Revels is under the patronage of
UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization), and this boosts the theme for this year’s edition- “Redefining Traditions”. Revels 18 has social collaborations with student-run organisations that work for social causes such as creating awareness of menstrual health among the public in the rural proximity of Manipal.
One of the attractions of Revels is the Proshow. Tushal Lall’s Indian Jam Project performed on Tuesday. A fashion show with Shaan Suhas Kumar, Miss Earth India 2017 is scheduled for March 8; ‘aswekeepsearching’ and 'When Chai met Toast' will be on March 9 and
Arjun Kanungo and DJ Quintino will perform on March 10, and Yahya Bootwala and Aranya Johar on March 11.
