Absconder arrested in sexual harassment of married woman

Bajaria police have nabbed a 57-year-old Dewas based accused who was wanted in a case in which a 40-year-old Bhopal’s married woman was sexually assaulted at Vijay hotel under Bajaria police station area.

Police said that the absconding accused Moeen alias Mohsin Khan of Dewas was nabbed after a complaint was lodged on February 25 with the Bajaria police.

The victim was sexually exploited by the accused and when the victim asked to marry her he refused and threatened her of dire consequences. After the accused refused to marry the victim kept mum but later she braved and reported the incident.

The victim approached the police and lodged a complaint stating that she contacted the accused after she found a matrimonial advertisement regarding marriage which was published by the accused and later the accused assured her of marriage and started to meet her frequently. The accused asked the victim to meet him at Vijay hotel where he sexually exploited the victim in the name of marrying her.

Based on the complaint after the preliminary investigation, the police registered a case under section 376 (2) and 506 of the IPC and have arrested the accused on Monday.

Police said that the accused went absconding after the complaint was lodged by the victim. It is a matter of grave concern that our women often victims of sexual crooks in one way or the other and we must try our best to redress it as soon as possible.

The police suspect that the accused had provided wrong details to the victim, but later, the credentials were found correct.

Police said that further investigation would reveal whether the offender was involved n trapping other victims in the past. The crime record of the accused would also be investigated.
