Rajasthan high court stays recruitment of RAS officers in excise department
JAIPUR : The Rajasthan High Court on Monday stayed the recruitment of RAS officers under the quota specified for the excise department. The single bench of V S Siradhana gave the order on a petition filed by Jitendra Singh Rathore and others.

The petitioner had appeared for the RAS exam 2016 as a departmental candidate, said Vigyan Shah, counsel for the petitioner. According to Rajasthan Excise Subordinate Rules 1974, 12.5% of the posts of ‘Inspector Grade II’ are to be filled in by recruiting ministerial staff which also provides for carrying forward the post to the succeeding years, he said.

It was argued that there were 14 vacancies in 2012 for departmental candidates that were not filled up in 2015. These had to be carried forward to 2016, but it was not done. The RPSC said the same would be given in 2017 vacancies, which was challenged in the court.
