In February, Petra witnesses record visitors!

indexTo the ancient city of Petra in Jordan witnessed a growth in the number of visitors in February of this year by 55 percent in comparison to the same period in last year, as per the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) Chief Commissioner Falah Omoush.

 
On Monday, Omoush informed Petra reporter that the Authority concluded its preparations to welcome visitors and have adopted all the measures to help and expedite the tourism process effortlessly and serve the tourists along with the local community in the same manner, highlighting at the same time the urgency to grow Jordan’s share of the world tourism market.

 
In the meantime, Suleiman Farajat, Deputy Chief Commissioner of PDTRA highlighted that the expansion of tourism all through 2017 remained 34 percent on the whole in comparison to 2016, including foreign visitors, Arabs, Jordanians and school trips.
The foreign tourist number reached 400,70 people in February of this year, marking a 55 per cent growth in comparison to the same time last year, when the number of visitors stood at 257,95 in 2017.

 
In 2017, the foreign visitor number reached 470,167 people, creating a 50 per cent growth in comparison to 2016 when the number of visitors was 321,143, as the number of Arab and Jordanian visitors to Petra reached 129,246 during the past year, official figures said.
