The Donald Trump administration’s move to raise import duties on steel and aluminium may not have a signifi cant direct impact on India but there could be problems if more goods are brought under such protectionist tariffs by the United States or if the move triggers a cross-Atlantic trade war with the European Union engulfing the rest of the world as well.
