TIRUNELVELI: The BJP, which is forming the next government in Tripura after defeating the CPM in the assembly elections, did not raze the statue of Russian communist revolutionary Vladimir Lenin, said party Tamil Nadu state president Tamilisai Soundararajan on Tuesday.

Tamilisai also said the BJP did not endorse the views of party leader H Raja, who tweeted earlier in day that the statue of social reformer Periyar (EVR Ramasamy) in Tamil Nadu would be razed just like Lenin’s statue was removed in Tripura on Monday. “I just saw it (the tweet),” Tamilisai said said distanced herself and the party from Raja’s views.

She denied allegations that the BJP had projected the party as Bharatiya Jesus Party to win the Tripura elections. “People voted for growth (in Tripura). We are forming the government in the three northeastern states. Saffron has come to power in 22 states and is trying to form the government in Tamil Nadu. But we won’t come to power through the backdoor, but through proactive politics,” she said.

On Rajinikanth’s statement on Monday that he wished to fill the vacancy in Tamil Nadu and that he came to politics as other politicians had failed to perform their duty, Tamilisai said the actor could try to fill the vacancy. But he should not put others down by saying they are not good. “I differ from his views. Everyone is playing their role properly,” she added.
