The crackdown on big electricity bill defaulters comes days after the corporation scrapped the One Time Settlement (OTS) scheme that allowed the defaulters to get away through concessions in the late payments.

UPPCL chairman and principal secretary, energy, Alok Kumar said that the crackdown was necessary to recover revenues trapped in the form of delayed payments. The drive is scheduled to be carried out till March 15.

Kumar said that executive engineers of various divisions will have to provide a certificate as a proof of the drive carried out in their area of jurisdiction.
