Mohammed Nalapad Haris, son of MLA N.A. Haris, on Monday moved the Karnataka High Court seeking bail in a criminal case of alleged assault and attempt to murder registered against him for attacking Vidvat L. at a cafe in UB City in January.
An application has been filed, along with the petition, seeking interim bail during the pendency of the petition seeking bail. The court will take up the pleas for hearing on Wednesday.
A city civil court, in its March 2 order, had refused to grant bail to Nalapad saying there was prima facie a case against him and bail could not be granted at that stage as the police were yet to record the statement of the victim. The sessions court had observed that he is ‘not entitled for bail at least till the completion of the investigation’ while holding that there are prima facie ingredients of attempt to murder in the statement and evidence produced in court.
