Action against Raja

more-in

Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam (TPDK) on Tuesday demanded action against BJP national secretary H. Raja stating that he is trying to create communal tension in Tamil Nadu through his Facebook remark (which he later removed) against social reformer and thinker Periyar E.V. Ramasamy, better known as Periyar.

TPDK general secretary K. Ramakrishnan said here that Mr. Raja has been making remarks capable of inciting communal tension in the State for a long time. He said that the BJP leader has now dared to raise his voice against Periyar who is widely respected by Tamilians.

The Facebook post of Mr. Raja can be roughly translated as: "Who is Lenin? What is his connection to India? What is the connection of communists to India? Lenin's statue was destroyed in Tripura. Today Lenin's statue, tomorrow Tamil Nadu's E.V. Ramaswami's statue".

Mr. Ramakrishnan said that Mr. Raja should make a public apology for the remark.

Mr. Ramakrishnan submitted a petition before Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) P. Perumal seeking action against Mr. Raja.
