Continuing its relentless hot pursuit of criminals and gangsters, the Ghaziabad police have arrested two criminals after exchange of fire. The police action came after the criminals abortively attempted to rob a bike from a man.
The police said about 4.00 pm on Monday, a man identified as Harshil Bhardwaj called police control room (PCR) that two criminals on a blue coloured motorcycle tried to rob his bike. When he resisted their attempts, they thrashed him and fled towards Kinaoni bridge.
On the SOS call from the victim, the police rushed towards the direction which complainant indicated at Kinaoni bridge on Hindon river. The police spotted the accused going on a bike. They were asked to surrender by the police team, said a police officer. But instead of complying with the police order, they opened fire at the police team. Police team also retaliated with fire, in the exchange firing a police constable, Akhilesh, sustained a gunshot wound in his arm and one criminal was injured. They lost control over bike and slipped on the road. Taking advantage of the situation, the police team overpowered them and arrested the duo.
During questioning, they revealed their identities as Mohsin and Arif. The police have also recovered a country made pistol along with cartridges from their possession.
Their crime record is being screened and Mohsin, who sustained bullet injury, and the constable Akhilesh were rushed to hospital where doctors told them out of danger” said Mahir Hussain Zaidi, the PRO to SP City Ghaziabad.
