Carbon monoxide leak at London hotel kills tourist, leaves pal ‘critical’

Carbon-monoxide-leakA suspected carbon leak at an upmarket hotel in London has killed a tourist and left his pal in a critical condition who is presently fighting for life.

 

These Spanish tourists were residing in a hotel in a swanky area of west London that had to be evacuated owing to the suspected carbon monoxide leak. A ‘high level’ of carbon monoxide that was dangerously toxic in high concentrations was discovered in the room where the friends named as Esteban Garcia and Marcos Cervera were staying.

 

Scotland Yard and emergency crew were summoned to the hotel around 1.48 p.m. on Monday after Garcia and Cervera, both in their 30s were found.

 

A spokesman for Met Police mentioned that officers attended with London Ambulance Services and colleagues of London Fire Brigade were also in attendance.

 

Officers are currently to inform next of kin. A post-mortem would be conducted in due course.

 

The death of Cervera who is understood to be from Majorca is being treated as an unexplained one as confirmed by the Met Police. Garcia had to be rushed to hospital where he continues to be in a critical condition.

 

Scotland Yard has launched an investigation into this incident.
