Bugatti Chiron Sport is the First Car With Carbon Windshield Wipers

If you’re of the absurd opinion that the near-1,500 horsepower Bugatti Chiron isn’t sporty enough, you’re in luck.

The French supercar maker has today unveiled the Chiron Sport – a lighter, track-tuned Chiron that boasts improved handling over the standard version of the supercar. The handling pack includes a new controller for the adaptive dampers, retuned steering and a new rear differential with torque vectoring. Bugatti has also stripped 40 lbs of weight from the car thanks to carbon fiber windshield wipers (a first for a production car), lighter rear window glass, a lighter exhaust cover and different alloy wheels. The Chiron Sport also features a new handling mode, which stiffens up the dampers by 10 percent and improves steering feel.

This might sound like a very mild package, but Bugatti says the Chiron Sport lapped the handling circuit at the Nardo Ring a full 5 seconds faster than the regular Chiron – a century when talking lap times. Additionally, the Chiron Sport gets some exclusive cosmetic equipment in the way of an available two-tone color scheme and a ’16’ logo in the grille, which refers to the number of cylinders in the 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged engine. The two-tone theme continues inside with contrasting leather and alcantara upholstery.

With the optional color package, the Chiron Sport as shown will sell for $3.6 million, which “probably makes it the most expensive production car on display,” at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, the automaker says. The first deliveries of the Chiron Sport will commence toward the end of 2018.
