Books worth ₹11 lakh have so far been selected by school students using the ‘one child, one book’ scheme by which each school student is given book coupons worth ₹250.
Krithi 2018 organisers said that mostly students from the lower primary classes made use of the scheme.
1.5 lakh visitors
The exhibition, held at a roomy air-conditioned hall at Marine Drive, witnessed over 1.5 lakh footfall till Monday evening. Despite it being the season of examinations, students accompanied by parents made a beeline to the venue, especially on Sunday. The spaciously arranged stalls with two informal programme venues among them, a few exhibitions on literary figures, Thasarak and Muziris, and an ongoing camp by the Lalithakala Akademi, have all won the admiration of visitors. On Tuesday, critic M.K. Sanoo’s biography of poet Kumaran Asan, Mruthyunjayam-Kavyajeevitham, will be released by Minister for Cooperation and Tourism Kadakampally Surendran by giving a copy to poet and festival convenor S. Ramesan.
